More than 20 youths from Spaulding High School's Students Taking Action in Rochester organization, along with the Youth to Youth team at Rochester Middle School, partnered with local Hannaford's stores on North Main Street and at the Lilac Mall, as well as with Market Basket on Milton Road, to hold Sticker Shock events on Jan. 12.
During Sticker Shock campaigns, youths place stickers on cases of alcoholic beverages in local stores. The stickers warn buyers that youths often get access to alcohol at homes, and urge buyers to guard against that.
The youths placed more than 1500 stickers.
The Rochester youth empowerment teams are funded through Bridging the Gaps: The Rochester Community Coalition for Alcohol and Drug Prevention as well as One Voice for Southeastern New Hampshire.
For more information on the youth teams, call Jennie Seyer O'Connell of the Bridging the Gaps Coalition at 330-7160.
