An update from Portsmouth Student Assistance Program

The Child and Family Services Student Assistance Program at Portsmouth High School continues to be utilized by many students. Student Assistance Counselor, Marci Albert, has provided direct services to more than 60 youth within the school this year. All students who are referred to the Student Assistance Program receive an individual intake and assessment and students are provided individual and group supportive counseling if needed. Above and beyond these students, many others planned, participated in, and were affected by this year’s Red Ribbon Week, which included the impact wall, a dance off, and many other activities.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of Americans during the last week of October every year. By wearing red ribbons and participating in community anti-drug events, young people pledge to live a drug-free life and pay tribute to DEA Special Agent Enriqué “Kiki” Camarena.
